Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus and Danville
Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast The Historic Kuebler Waldrip Haus and Danville Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast's decor is one of eye-pleasing country elegance and comfort -- with some interesting antiques, quilts, stone fireplace built from Comal County Jailhouse and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church rocks. Total accommodations include 11 rooms with private baths (4 jetted tubs), and two dining rooms. Our meeting facilities are for 45 - 55 people and wedding facilities - Small (inside) 45 - 50 or Large (outside) 200 - 300 people. Common rooms can accommodate up to 50 for meetings. The Historic Kuebler-Waldrip Haus property was first owned by Francois Guilbeau, a French-born wine merchant who is credited with saving the diseased French vineyards with mustang grape vine cuttings that come from this property. The original limestone structure, built in 1847 by Angreas & Katherine Pape of Hanover, Germany, was later the home of Willie & Olga Kraft & family. In 1974, Margaret & Larry Waldrip and their 3 sons, Dibrell, Darell and David began lovingly restoring the home. The original rock house has walls ranging in thickness of 17" to 23". The added rocks during the restoration of 1980 included original rocks from the Comal County Jail House and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The church is still in operation. The big rock in front of the fireplace was the main front step into the old jail house. The building has a total of 6 bedrooms, 6 private baths, some with porches and kitchens, a wonderful view, and accommodate a maximum of 16 people. The Historic Danville School was named after Daniel Murchison, a Texas Ranger, and still retains the original floor and walls. The school was built in Comal County, purchased at auction, moved from Solms to our ranch in August of 1990 and opened as part of the Bed & Breakfast in August of 1991. The school was moved in one piece after carefully detaching the roof and laying it on top of the main room. The building was set in place, rebuilt and three rooms were added in keeping with the original design and atmosphere.
